The largest city in Vietnam,Ho Chi Minh City (more popularly known as Saigon) is located on the banks of the Saigon River. Ho Chi Minh is accessible through Tan Son Nhat airport. The international airport is located at 15 minutes away from downtown Ho Chi Minh City by car. Hotels near the airport Tan Son Naht generally cater to both tourists and business travelers.
There are alot interesting stuff to do in in Saigon City. It was once called the Pearl of the Orient (or the Eastern Paris) and the architectural of its colonial past was maintained. Most notable is the Cathedral of Notre Dame and the Opera House in Saigon, both located in District 1 - the center of the city. There are numerous popular tourist attractions in Ho Chi Minh, and many of them relating to Vietnam War. Reunification Palace, more generally called as Independence Hall, a restored five-story building, practically unchanged since the North Vietnam army destroyed the door and controled of the city.
Not far away, at the Vietnam History Museum, there are a large collection of antiques and artifacts and the city botanical gardens is one of the good way to escape from the traffic noise during peak hours. A new way to find a respite from the heat of Vietnam is in Dam Sen Water Park, located in the center of the city.
